As of today, August 23, we’re just six months away from the first official event of the Fallas! Did you know that even before the main festival days from March 15 to 19, there are already exciting Fallas events taking place?
The last Sunday of February, which in 2025 falls on February 23, is the day of La Crida. This is a special day where the Fallas officially kick off. At the iconic Torres de Serrano, the Falleras Mayores, political figures, and festival representatives gather to celebrate the approach of the Fallas, followed by a stunning light and fireworks display.
Since La Crida takes place before March and the main festival days, it tends to attract fewer crowds, mostly locals and Fallas enthusiasts. This makes it an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in the true spirit of the Fallas. If you’re visiting during the main festival days of the Fallas of Valencia, and you want a similar experience, consider skipping the large official events and the Special Section Fallas, and instead explore the neighborhood Fallas Commissions.
We’ve curated a list of activities happening on Sunday, February 23, with links to the calendar. Remember, you can already check out the majority of official events for the Fallas of Valencia 2025 in our Fallas Calendar!
- Early morning despertà parades, both for children and general, where firecrackers are set off to wake up the neighborhood and build excitement for the upcoming festivities.
- The historic “El Cant de l’Estoreta Velleta” contest, a nod to the early 20th-century Fallas traditions.
- A parade showcasing traditional music bands.
- A mascletà at its usual time and location, though it doesn’t count as one of the official mascletàs from March 1 to 19.
- La Crida at 8:00 p.m., featuring a ceremonial speech, music, and a spectacular light and fireworks show.
Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to the Fallas 2025!
