Cancelled the first Fallas 2024 events due to catastrophic fire in València

Following a devastating fire that engulfed two buildings in València and resulted in fatalities, the City Council has declared three days of official mourning. Consequently, the inaugural events of Fallas of València 2024 stand cancelled.

This weekend was slated to host the ‘Crida 2024’, a traditional event held at the Torres de Serrano where the Court of Honor —comprising the Falleras Mayores of València and their entourage— heralds the advent of the Fallas. However, in light of the fire tragedy, the City Council has announced the cancellation of this event, and alternative dates will be arranged for its staging, as disclosed by the Junta Central Fallera across its social media platforms.

Unfortunately, the fire in the Campanar neighborhood has left us with fatalities.

Therefore, the City Council of València has declared three days of mourning, and as a result, all scheduled Fallas events until Sunday are suspended.

Likewise, two other less prominent events that signal the commencement of Fallas 2024, including the first ‘Mascletà’ scheduled for 2 p.m. —though it does not officially kick off the countdown starting March 1— and the children’s and general ‘Macrodespertà’, have been affected by this decision.

Nevertheless, it’s important to note that this period of mourning does not impact the Ninot Exhibition, which commenced on February 2 and will run until March 15.

Both the Central Fallera Commission and the City Council of Valencia have stated that they will announce new dates for the events that were planned. Once it is announced, it will be published in the news section of ExperienceFallasValencia.com.
