The best Fallas of Valencia 2025 events – Our personal favourites

Dec 7, 2024 | Fallas Events

Get ready for an explosive Fallas 2025 experience!

Every year, the city of València, Spain, comes alive with a fiery celebration that embodies the essence of Valencian culture and tradition. The Fallas Festival, deeply rooted in local history, unites locals and tourists alike for a vibrant and unforgettable experience. Central to this celebration are the Fallas events, featuring the awe-inspiring Mascletàs, breathtaking fireworks displays, and colorful parades.

If you’ve checked the official calendar, you already know how packed the Fallas can be. And that’s just the city-wide events! Each Fallas Commission also organizes its own activities: local mascletàs, street parties, paella cook-offs, and more.

Since deciding what to attend can feel overwhelming (though you can always leave some things for your next visit), we’ve curated a list of our favorite events—the ones we make sure to see every year, no matter what. Let’s dive in!

Nit del Foc: Our ‘can’t miss under any circumstances’ event

The ‘Nit del Foc‘ is, in our opinion, the most spectacular night of the Fallas Festival. We love combining the breathtaking fireworks display with a lively party afterward—it’s a night you’ll never forget!

The ‘Nit del Foc’ takes place on the night of March 18th to 19th and is the grand finale of the nightly fireworks displays that begin on March 15th. While fireworks are set off each evening in the same location, the final night’s show is always the most impressive. Lasting over 20 minutes, it’s crafted by the top pyrotechnics experts in Spain.

If you only have time to attend one fireworks display during the Fallas, make it this one. Trust us, it’s worth it.

On the map below, you’ll find the location of the fireworks display and the best areas to view it.

The best spot? Head to the roundabout southwest of the launch site and move towards Alcalde Reig Street. This area provides the clearest view of the show:

Insider Tips

  • Arrive early: To secure a prime viewing spot, we recommend arriving at least 1.5 hours in advance (around 10:30 PM).
  • Showtime is at midnight: The fireworks begin precisely at 12:00 AM.
  • Alternative viewing: If waiting isn’t for you, arriving closer to midnight is fine, but keep in mind that you’ll likely be further back or in a less central spot. Either way, the experience will still be unforgettable!

Mascletàs: A daily chance

From March 1 to 19 at 2:00 PM, you have the chance to experience the heart-pounding excitement of the ‘mascletà’, one of the most iconic events of the Fallas of Valencia. Unlike traditional fireworks displays, the mascletà focuses on sound and vibrations, creating an unforgettable auditory and physical experience. You’ll feel the explosions resonate through your body, with the intensity peaking during the spectacular final ‘earthquake‘.

The mascletà takes place every day at 2:00 PM in the Plaça de l’Ajuntament (Town Hall Square). While visibility isn’t a priority for this event, getting close will enhance the experience.

Best Spots to Enjoy the ‘Mascletà’

Although the main event happens in the Town Hall Square, you can enjoy it from many surrounding streets. Here are our top recommendations for the best viewing and listening locations:

From the South:

  • Avinguda Marqués de Sotelo: Stay on the left side of the street, as close to the square as possible.
  • Carrer del Periodista Azzati: An excellent alternative if Marqués de Sotelo is crowded.

From the North:

  • Carrer de les Barques: Again, try to get as close to the square as possible.
  • Within Plaça de l’Ajuntament: Head to the northern area, behind the fountain and toward Sant Vicent Màrtir street.

Insider Tips

  • Arrive early: Plan to be there at least 45 minutes beforehand, especially on weekends when it’s busier.
  • Choose weekdays: The crowds are smaller, making it easier to find a good spot.
  • Prepare for the weather: The Valencian spring sun can be intense, so bring sunscreen, a hat or cap, and plenty of water.
  • Be cautious of the noise: The mascletà is incredibly loud, especially during the final moments. If you’re sensitive to loud sounds or have hearing concerns, consider staying farther away from the square.

The ‘mascletà’ is a must-see event during the Fallas Festival, offering a sensory experience unlike any other. Whether it’s your first time or a yearly tradition, the intensity of this event is guaranteed to leave you in awe.

Party night: Party ended with churros and bunyols de carabassa

Yes, going out to party is a Fallas tradition, and it feels truly unique during this festival. As you move from one place to another, you’ll stumble upon Fallas monuments, bustling streets filled with people, and lively celebrations. And when the night winds down, treat yourself to some churros or bunyols de carabassa (pumpkin fritters) to recharge. It’s magical.

Where to go out during Fallas

Recommending the perfect party spot during Fallas can be tricky. The popular Cánovas area is well-known, but we don’t recommend it—it’s often too crowded and caters more to those unfamiliar with Fallas culture. Instead, explore smaller Fallas in neighborhoods like Patraix, Russafa, Nou Moles, or El Pla del Real for a more authentic experience. One way to find out if a Falla is having a party or not that night is through its Instagram. We recommend the Instagram + Google Lens combination for translations.

Important reminder

Since public sanitation can be an issue during Fallas, please use the portable urinals provided by the Fallas to help keep the city clean and accessible for everyone. Enjoy responsibly! 😊

Special category Fallas Route

For us, walking theS Special Fallas route is one of those annual activities we simply can’t miss. Sure, it means hours of walking and racking up plenty of kilometers, but the experience is worth every step. Along the way, we chat, laugh, eat, and soak in the vibrant atmosphere of Valencia during Fallas.

Although the awards for the best Fallas are yet to be announced, the Special Category Fallas—the most spectacular and high-budget monuments—are already known. Below, you’ll find a Google map highlighting their locations. Don’t miss them! 🎉

And here’s a possible Fallas route for you to enjoy all the most prominent monuments! While walking is the best way to fully immerse yourself in the festival’s atmosphere, don’t forget you can always use public transport to connect certain points and save time or energy. The tour is designed to end in the centre, from where it is easier to return to our beds by public transport.

Exposició del Ninot / Ninot Exhibition

And finally, the Ninot Exhibition, a unique event that takes place before the main Fallas week, offers visitors the chance to vote for their favorite ninots (the intricate sculptures that form part of the Fallas monuments). The chosen winners will be saved from the flames during the Cremà and added to the Fallas Museum collection. Tickets only cost €2, so it could be a great option to learn more about the Fallas in Valencia.

The exhibition runs from the first Sunday in February until March 15. Make sure to visit in time to see these artistic masterpieces and participate in the tradition! Check the event calendar for more details.
